We shouldn’t need a special day  to think about our blessings, but Thanksgiving does tend to turn our thoughts toward being grateful.  It’s easy to do that when things are going well.  But what about when we’re overwhelmed with struggles?

I think that’s when remembering to count our blessings is more important than ever!  Our spirits will be lifted when we think about our physical abilities — such as being able to hear, to speak, to see, to stand up, to walk across the room.  Those are just some of the abilities we might be grateful for.  We need to not take those for granted!  Think about how different the world would be if we lost even one.  Many people face a reality like that every day.

We’re so blessed!  We’re blessed to be able to hear a bird’s song, to speak a loved one’s name, to see a rainbow, to get out of bed on our own in the morning, to walk outside to greet the day.  Focus your thoughts for just a few minutes on all the things that your body allows you to do.  It’s amazing!

Look around you.  What is there to be grateful for?  Do you have food to eat, a bed to sleep in, a roof over your head, clothes to put on your body?  You are blessed!  Many have none of those things that we consider necessities.

I could go on and on, but I’m sure you know what I’m trying to say.  If we focus on what’s right in our lives, instead of what isn’t, our blessings become abundantly clear.

To all the people in my life, I’m grateful for each and every one of you!  Whether you’re family members, friends, or acquaintances, I’m blessed to have you.  You’ve enriched my life in so many ways!  To my social media connections and the readers of this blog, thank you for caring, and for joining me in thinking about life’s joys and sorrows.  To my Santa Barbara clients, past and present, I am deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me, and for allowing me to help you create increased happiness and well-being as you journey through your lives.  Thank you all!

Happy Thanksgiving to each of you!

Until next time,
