I’ve been talking about change lately. Have you taken that first tentative step toward change? It’s OK if you haven’t yet. One of the most important things we need, in order to move forward and make a change, is a belief in ourselves! Create an image in your mind of you holding up the written belief: “I can be anything I want to be!”
That’s your first step! You’ve done it! The next step is having a goal, some change that would help your life be happier and more satisfying. Make it something that you feel passionate about! Who wants to have a goal that doesn’t excite you? Don’t forget that there’s no one else in the whole wide world that is exactly like you! Throughout all time there never has been, or ever will be, another you! Isn’t that an incredible thought! What are the wonderful, unique gifts that you have to share with our world?
Close your eyes and really see all the special qualities that make you who you are, both inside and outside. When you have a clear concept of what they are, get out a special journal and start listing them. Make it as complete a list as you can — although you can always add to your list as you think of more great characteristics. I know that if I could sit down with you, for even a few minutes, I could come up with a long list of what makes you special.
Take your time with this part of the process, because it builds the foundation for everything else to come. Quiet your inner critic, and really see yourself in all your glory! This isn’t the time to be humble. It’s the time to get firmly on your own side. The qualities that you list are the very ones that are going to help you move forward toward your goal — one small step at a time.
You deserve to be excited by your life. What dreams have you had that you haven’t gone after? It might be a career that you would love, a hobby that you’ve always wanted to try, volunteer work that would be meaningful, or even a trip that would build lasting memories. It doesn’t matter what you want to be or what you want to do, the important thing is that if you aren’t happy, it’s time for change.
Happy visioning.
