When you feel stuck with where you are in life, it’s important to remember that change often happens slowly. It begins with that first tentative step forward into the unknown!
It can be frightening to leave what’s familiar, no matter how unhappy you might be. Every choice we make has a consequence! Doing nothing, staying with status quo, is a choice! It’s so important to remember that time is always moving forward, whether we move with it or not.
Many times, our fear of making a mistake is what keeps us rooted to our familiar way of walking through life. What if we make the wrong choice? What if we don’t know how to do something new in the right way? What if we…? All of these “what ifs” are just different ways of saying we’re scared. There’s nothing wrong with fear, unless it keeps us paralyzed and unable to move forward when we’re unhappy.
Making changes slowly can help to alleviate quite a bit of that fear. Think about what you want to do differently. Formulate a plan for bringing that change around. Then, break it down into small steps. Move forward, one small step at a time. After awhile, you can look back and see how far you’ve come. Those small steps add up.
I’ll talk more about this in the next entry, but for now, just take that first magic step! Don’t stay stuck in a way of life that no longer fits you!

Hi Linda,
I totally agree with your article and that change does happen slowly and subtly, for me this is the best way forward, building strong foundations of change is much more rewarding than any quick fix.
Awareness of the affects of change are usually observed by hindsight.
Thank you
