Think about the very moment of birth, when a brand new baby is born into our world. This tiny, precious life is so full of promise! What miracles might this child accomplish if his dreams are encouraged and nurtured? What about you? Do you remember your dreams, when you were still a little one who dared to dream? Did you promise yourself that you were going to see those dreams come true? What happened on your way to those dreams? Did you grow up with the attitude that the universe is a safe place, where you could take chances, and learn from your mistakes? If so, you were truly blessed! If not, you probably learned to go forward in a very cautious way, with many constraints placed on the day-to-day choices you have made.
Imagine with me for a minute, walking in a beautiful meadow, surrounded by dancing butterflies, singing birds, and glorious flowers of every color, size, and shape. You can hear the ripple of a gentle stream somewhere close by. You feel the warmth of the sun on your back, and welcome the coolness of a soft breeze caressing your cheeks. Wouldn’t this be a place where you could nurture and welcome the miracles that lie waiting inside you, creativity as yet untapped?
Now, contrast that with walking up a very steep, winding, path on the side of a tall mountain. As you walk along, you notice that the path seems to be narrowing, and there are many loose rocks along the way. You look out toward the horizon, and you notice the sky is darkening, and the storm clouds are gathering. You begin to shiver, and feel afraid to go forward, but you have no way to go back. You stand frozen in fear! What about this environment? Would it inspire your confidence, and help you give birth to your dreams? Would it lead you to imagine unlimited possibilities? Probably not!
Which environment would you choose? Not all of us were fortunate enough to have been born into families capable of creating the magical, nurturing safety that we needed to be able to thrive. It isn’t too late, though! What could you change about your life today, that would create this safe, enriching atmosphere? Would you need to quiet your inner critic, change your focus, or shift your priorities? What do you have inside you just waiting to be born? The point is that you don’t want to live your whole life without ever giving birth to the miracles within.
A quote that I love fits in beautifully with this post. It’s by Anais Nin:
There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
Lift up your head, straighten your shoulders, take a deep, cleansing breath, and walk forward into the wondrous unknown. I encourage you to take just one small step forward today in creating whatever you need, to begin the process of bursting forth in glorious bloom!
Fulfill your dreams and keep your promises to yourself, one small step at a time,
Linda
