I want to wish you a happy holiday! It’s wonderful to have a day set aside to focus on being grateful for the blessings we’ve all been given. Being grateful is easiest if our lives are full of happiness, though.
What if instead, we’re struggling and unhappy, depressed and anxious? At those time, it can be very challenging to find even a spark of gratitude inside of us. It can feel like other people’s lives are so much better than our own — happier, healthier, and easier.
I’d like to encourage you, no matter what is going on in your life right now, to turn your focus to what is going right for you. Think of the people you care about, and who care about you. Think about having a roof over your head, food on your table, and clothes on your back. Think about the good health that you and your loved ones have, and if there are health problems, think about the medical resources available. Turn your thoughts to the abilities you have, to think, to see, to hear, to speak, to walk. Think about the freedoms we have in this country. Think about the natural and man-made beauty that abounds. Our gifts are all around us!
There are so many people around our world who don’t have the blessings that we’ve been given! It’s important not to take those blessings for granted. Let’s be grateful, even if our lives aren’t quite the way we’d like them to be. We still have much to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Until next time,
Linda
