There are few people who have not experienced increased stress during these tough economical times, but even during these times, it’s possible to continue to grow and develop into a stronger, more complete you. No matter what life’s challenges you might be facing, you can triumph over them!
There’s a beautiful little book that I read a couple years ago, called Keep Going: The Art of Perseverance, written by Joseph Marshall, III. It’s about an elder in the Lakota Tribe, who shares a wealth of wisdom with a young man, who’s full of grief. The young man asks why life has to be so difficult, and his grandfather tells him that “life is a journey, sometimes walked in light, sometimes in shadow.” He continues on to say, ” Being strong means taking one more step toward the top of the hill, no matter how weary you may be…Each step, no matter how difficult, is one step closer to the top of the hill. To keep hope alive for one more heartbeat at a time leads to the light of the next sunrise and the promise of a new day.”
As humans, we all experience adversity as we travel through life. Our attitude and focus make all the difference. Instead of giving up and falling into feelings of defeat, it’s possible for us to view these difficulties as opportunities to mold and shape our human spirit. We seldom stretch and grow when life is too comfortable. We need a certain degree of discomfort to be willing to take a chance, to leave what’s familiar, to go out into the unknown, to risk making mistakes, and to ultimately become more of what we’re meant to be.
I believe in you, in your ability to take the twists and turns that life might give you, and to use them to become wiser, stronger, and more free!
Is this your moment to move forward toward the sunrise and renewed hope?
