Is there anything more precious than a brand new life? It’s a particularly wonderful blessing when that new life is your own child or grandchild. We were blessed last week, when our first grandson was born!

The opportunity to be there to greet this precious baby soon after birth was one I was not going to miss. So, it’s been a little over a week since you’ve heard from me. During that time, I’ve been able to live from one of my core values, which is to love, honor and connect with my family. After his birth, my husband and I were busy caring for his two little sisters, until their mom, dad, and baby brother could return home. Any of you who have ever had a baby know that it takes time to get back to your full strength, so I spent the week helping my daughter-in-law take care of the children and their home.
It sure made me think about the old saying that it takes a village to raise a child. My kids are blessed to have family, friends, and church members to support them. It isn’t always like that. What about the couples who live far from friends and families? What about those single parents who are really struggling? Ideally all families would have their own support systems, but that isn’t always the case.
Children are our future. We all need to do what we can to make sure that each child feels loved, cared for, and supported. There are so many ways that we can help. Please reach out to these precious children and their families. It doesn’t matter if they’re newborns or a teens. It doesn’t matter if they live next door or across the world. Our children need us. We need them. Try reaching out — you and they will be blessed in untold ways.
Until next time,
Linda

  • Congratulations on your first grandson. You have brought up a good point about the importance of family and caring and loving our children. So many people are struggling, it is sad. If everyone could take a step back and just think about how important the decisions they make will affect their children I believe we would not have many of the problems we have in the world today. Enjoy your new family member. Have a Happy Halloween.

  • Thank you, Brian. I agree. The decisions that we make all have consequences. It’s important that each of us consider the impact of those decisions on innocent children. It doesn’t matter whether the children belong to us or someone else. We need to cherish and protect them.
