“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
by Helen Keller
It’s almost New Year’s Day. This is a great time to think about how you want your new year to be different than the last year has been. Everyone has challenges in life. What we get to choose is how we respond to those challenges. Think about all the challenges Helen Keller had, without sight or sound, and the amazing way she dealt with them.
There are so many paths open to us as we move forward into our future. Which one will you choose? Which path will help you strengthen your soul, clear your vision, inspire your ambition, and achieve your success? Will you choose the easy path, which may only lead you in circles, but is comfortable and familiar? Or, will you choose a new, unknown path, with possible twists and turns, but one that might in time lead you to great joy and deep fulfillment?
Give it some thought, and consider which path will help you develop the character necessary to bring you the very best tomorrow.
Until next time,
Linda
Nice thoughts Linda. Do you think sometimes the easy path is the best path? Not in the sense of not trying, but for example, following trust and letting life unfold in front of you, instead of trying to control every moment. Once we trust and relax into such a path, it might be a beautiful, easy ride.
Hi Linda,
I was unable to figure out how to choose a profile, so my last email came across as anonymous. It is Kristin, from Lime Green Monkey. Happy New Year to you!
Hi Kristin (anonymous),
Thank you so much for commenting on my entry. Your thoughts reflect a lot of wisdom, Kristin. I agree that we need to relax and trust the universe rather than trying to control every moment.
What I wanted my entry to reflect was that we don’t want to let fear stand in our way, when there’s some goal that we want to achieve. Adversity happens to all of us, and we don’t want to use that as a reason to quit trying.
I work with so many people who have really struggled in life, and I feel that it’s important for them to understand that they have options for moving forward into a more joyful, satisfying life. I loved the quote by Helen Keller, because she accomplished so much in her life, even though she encountered many obstacles. Her character and attitude toward difficulties was amazing. As you so beautifully stated, though, there are also many times when we can breathe easy and watch the miracles of life unfold.
Take good care,
Linda
